Hamilton Viscount 14K Gold Watch Circa 1955
Offered is this is a great looking Hamilton 14K Solid Gold Viscount watch that winds, sets, and runs great. It keeps excellent time. It is signed on the dial, movement, and case.
The Viscount is one of the more dramatic Hamilton styles, with sharp pointed triangles coming off the top and bottom of the square case, with the strap notched to fit around this central point. The strap was held by a metal bar that fit onto the underside of the band, supporting the spring bars at each end. The spring bars slide through a hole in the triangle portion of the lugs. Today the bar is sometimes replaced by the so-called "Gucci bars" that have screws on each end to anchor the strap. This example has had the original bars replaced by "Gucci bars". The Viscount was designed by Richard Arbib.
