Bulova Accutron Astronaut Steel Circa 1962
This is a great looking Fully Serviced Early Circa 1962 (both movement and case marked M2, signifying 1962) Bulova Accutron Astronaut that sets and runs great. It has a brand new battery just installed and keeps excellent time. It has a GMT 24 hour time hand that works properly as well (it will point straight down at the 6 position at noon, and straight up at 12 at midnight). The hands are an early variation, rather than the dauphine hands normally seen on Astronauts. This is a really nice addition to the watch.
The watch allows you to easily tell whether it is am or pm (for example, in the picture, the watch is set at 10:10, but you can tell it is 10:10 am by looking at the 24 hour hand which is just past 10 on the outer bezel. If it were 10:10 pm, the hand would be just past the 22 on the outer bezel). The watch can also be set to a second time zone by rotating the outer 24 hour bezel.
The astronauts have a hacking function to synchronize the seconds hand, as can be seen with the 214HN marking on the movement and is engraved into the movement rather than stamped as is seen on most Astronaut movements. With the lugs almost hidden underneath the large bezel and the setting crown on the back of the watch it really has a cool, clean look on the wrist. Don't let someone else grab this excellent Astronaut first.
