Hamilton Electric Pacer Factory Custom Ford Rotunda
Here's your chance to own a FULLY SERVICED (ultrasonic wash, rinse, and lubrication) Hamilton Electric Rotunda Pacer watch. Pictured in René Rondeau's book "The Watch Of The Future" on pages 140-145, and 196, it was released in November 1957 with an original price of $125 with metal band, and $110 with leather strap. It is signed on the case, crown, dial and movement. It runs great and keeps time to well under 30 seconds variation per day and has a brand new battery just installed. The hack function works properly, and the watch starts right up each time the crown is pushed in from the setting position to the running position.
The dial on this example is in great shape and has the ORIGINAL FACTORY CUSTOM “Rotunda” FINISH. Ford Motor Company built the Rotunda building for the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. After the fair closed, Ford had the building completely disassembled and moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where it took 18 months to reassemble it. In the 1950's the ultra modern building actually became the fifth most popular tourist destination in the U.S.A. Unfortunately, the building burned to the ground on November 9, 1962. These Rotunda dial Pacers were likely ordered by Ford to be sold as a souvenir for visitors to the building. As a plus, it has had a BRAND NEW OLD STOCK D-PIN installed in the balance, so it will run virtually as it did from the factory. Don't let someone else grab it up first.
