Hamilton Otis "Reverso" Original Black Dial

$2,795

This is a great looking extremely rare Hamilton Otis watch that winds, sets, and runs great, and keeps excellent time.  The movement has just been serviced as well.  It was introduced in 1938, and had a very short production run, likely due to patent infringement issues with the LeCoultre "Reverso" which was introduced in 1931.  It is therefore an extremely difficult watch to find, and to find one in good condition is even more rare.  Most have an engraving on the flip back of the case, but this one does not.  The case flips, and stays in place perfectly when wearing as well.  The great looking Original Finish Dial is a real plus.

The design was originally introduced as a sports watch to protect delicate crystals and dials on the polo fields.  By sliding a thumb across the dial, you could slip the watch sideways out of its socket-case and reverse it to face inward, leaving a “polo ready” protective metal case back in its place.
