Hamilton Electric Spectra Employee Award Watch With Original Strap
Offered is this fully serviced (ultrasonic wash, rinse, and lubrication) 14K Solid Gold Hamilton Electric Spectra watch. Pictured in René Rondeau's book "The Watch Of The Future" on pages 157-158 and 201, it was released in July of 1957 with an original price of $150.00. It is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, strap and buckle. It runs great and keeps time to well under 30 seconds variation per day. The watch has a brand new battery just installed. The hack function works properly, and the watch starts right up each time the crown is pushed in from the setting position to the running position.
This is a special Spectra, in that it was a Hamilton Award watch given to employees after 15 years of service. Information can be found on page 201 of "The Watch Of The Future." Employees had a choice of either Electric or Mechanical watch. The dedication was photo-etched on the back and special dials were made with a large "H" logo.
The Spectra was the third watch in the Electric series, following the Ventura and Van Horn. This one is the complete with original tan strap with 14K Buckle. It has a great asymmetrical touch, in that the case is broader and thicker at the 12 position. The lines radiating out from the dial at the 6 position compliment the case shape, and give this watch a classic look that is sure to turn heads. Original Spectra watches were fitted with 500 movements, but this one has been upgraded to a 505 movement. As a plus, it has had a NEW OLD STOCK D-PIN installed in the balance, so it will run virtually as it did from the factory.
